The People Behind Midori: The Little Things That Bring Us Together
When you visit Midori, you might come for the food, the atmosphere, or simply because you’re looking for somewhere nice to spend a little time.
However, behind every plate, every “Irasshaimase”, every smile, and every busy service is a dedicated group of people who help make Midori what it is.
Therefore, we thought it was time to introduce you to a few of them a little more.
Some are loud. Some are quiet. Some are happiest in the kitchen. Meanwhile, some seem to be everywhere at once. And somehow, all of these different personalities come together to make Midori feel exactly like Midori.
LΓvia β Calm in the Middle of the Rush
Undoubtedly, busy shifts can be a lot to handle, but LΓvia has a wonderful way of managing them with patience, kindness, and a bright smile.
Whether she’s helping out in different sections or making sure things keep moving when the restaurant gets busy, she always gives her absolute best. In fact, she’s one of those people who makes a busy day feel a little easier for everyone around her.
And naturally, that kindness doesn’t go unnoticed.
Alvin β Quietly Making Things Just Right
You may not see Alvin very often because he usually works somewhere in the kitchen.
Actually, he’s one of our quiet stars, perfectly happy to let his work speak for itself. If you’ve ever admired how carefully the chef presented your meal, there’s a good chance Alvin had something to do with it.
Furthermore, if you happen to hear a soft “Irasshaimase” from behind the counter, there’s a good chance it’s him. He may be reserved, but his deep care goes into every single plate.
Charli β Bringing a Little Sunshine
Charli is one of the younger members of our team, and she brings a lovely energy wherever she goes.
She is still learning and growing. However, what truly stands out is her willingness to keep trying, even when things get incredibly busy.
Ultimately, there’s something really nice about watching someone grow with a team, gaining confidence one shift at a time. And certainly, that smile of hers helps brighten the entire place.
Michiko-san β Everyone’s Mum
Typically, every team seems to have one person who somehow knows whether everyone has eaten, whether they’ve had enough rest, and whether something is bothering them.
For us, that person is Michiko-san.
She has been with Midori since the very beginning, and her warmth has become a massive part of the restaurant. She looks after our customers with the exact same care she gives the team.
Around here, she is basically everyone’s mum. We’re still not quite sure how she always knows when someone needs looking after… but we are very glad she does!
Miho-san β You’ll Hear Her Before You See Her
Miho-san can do a little bit of absolutely everything.
Most days, you will find her working hard in the kitchen. But if we need an extra pair of hands out front, she is always there.
And then, there is her “Irasshaimase”. Let’s just say… you probably won’t miss it!
Behind all that energy is someone with a huge heart and a genuine love for welcoming people. She brings so much warmth and life to Midori, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Justin β Quiet Until You Find His Topic
Justin is one of our calm and thoughtful team members.
You might see him quietly getting on with his work, looking very serious as he tries to organise the many thoughts happening inside his head. But if you mention something he is interested in? Suddenly, he has a lot to say!
Additionally, he is working towards becoming a future psychologist, so perhaps all that thinking has a profound purpose. Quiet, thoughtful, and caring, Justin is one of those people whose contribution you might not always notice straight away, but it certainly makes a huge difference.
Amie β The Quiet Heart of the Kitchen
Amie is happiest behind the scenes.
While the restaurant gets busy and everyone else is running around, she is often in the kitchen, quietly doing what she does best. She doesn’t need to be in the spotlight.
Instead, her focus remains simple: prepare the food with care and make sure our customers leave happy and well-fed. Ultimately, there is something special about people who don’t need much attention to make a big difference. Amie is exactly one of those people.
Ray β Remembering Your Order, Forgetting His Breakfast
Ray is our head chef and a huge part of the heart behind Midori.
His memory never fails to amaze us. For instance, he can remember a customer just from their food order… but somehow, remembering what he had for breakfast is a completely different story.
For Ray, cooking is about much more than putting food on a plate. He loves the relationships that grow with our customers and the familiar faces that come back again and again.
In fact, there are days when he runs the kitchen all by himself, pushing through the pressure and the rush, simply because cooking is something he genuinely loves. His goal is always the same: for people to leave with a full tummy and, hopefully, a smile too.
Angel β Our Invisible Angel
Sometimes, you will see her rushing into Midori, not because she has to, but because she genuinely loves being part of the team. She is often the person taking care of the little things you might never notice. The things that need fixing. The things that need remembering. The little details that make someone feel truly welcome.
She listens, remembers faces, chats with customers, and somehow seems to know exactly what needs to happen next. She may not always be in the spotlight, but her presence can be felt all around the restaurant. That is exactly why we call her our invisible angel.
More Than Just a Team
When you put all these people together, you get a pretty interesting group. Different personalities. Different ways of working. Different stories. But that is exactly what makes a team.
And we think the exact same thing happens between a restaurant and the people who visit it.
A customer who comes in often becomes a familiar face.
A quick “thank you” can completely brighten someone’s shift.
A smile during a busy service can mean much more than you realise.
A conversation can turn a first visit into a lasting memory.
Over time, these little moments start to add up. They are the things that bring people together and make a restaurant feel less like a place you simply come to eat, and much more like somewhere you are happy to return to.
So, to our team: thank you for everything you do, including all the little things that often go unnoticed.
And to everyone who visits Midori, supports us, says hello, comes back, recommends us to a friend, or simply takes the time to share a meal with us: thank you too!!
You are part of the story. And we are very grateful to have you here.
